The Seven-Day 918Kiss Leaderboard

Each rank has a Confidence Score out of 5, which is our rating of how well Google’s pages back it. Then come Why It Ranks Here, Check It and Heads-Up. Let’s go from the top.

Rank 1: 918Kiss Stays Installed

Confidence Score: 5 out of 5.

Why it ranks here: it is stated plainly. Google’s Pixel help says pressing and holding an item and dragging it onto the Remove target takes it off your home screen only. Some phones show Remove, Uninstall, or both, and Google says “Uninstall” takes the app off your device.

Check it: after you remove the icon, open your app list from the bottom of the home screen and look for 918Kiss.

Heads-up: read the label before you release your finger. Remove and Uninstall can sit side by side. The Remove steps are from Pixel Help, so other phone brands may word them differently.

Rank 2: It Is Still One Swipe Away

Confidence Score: 5 out of 5.

Why it ranks here: the same page says you open the app list from the bottom of the home screen and can press and drag an app from there to a spot on a home screen. Removing an icon is not a lock. That last sentence is our reading.

Check it: swipe up and find the app. If you want a gentler version of the experiment, Google also says you can drag one app onto another to make a group, and tap the group to name it.

Heads-up: whether it feels easy or hard to find the app when you want it, we can’t say. That depends on your own list.

Rank 3: Hibernation Is Measured in Months

Confidence Score: 4 out of 5.

Why it ranks here: Android’s developer documentation says that for an app targeting Android 11 or higher, if the user doesn’t interact with it “for a few months,” the system places it in a hibernation state. The page gives no exact threshold. A week is far short of “a few months”.

For the record, the page says that on Android 12 or higher, hibernation resets runtime permissions, stops the app running background jobs, stops push notifications and removes cached files. It also says that opening the app takes it out of hibernation.

Heads-up: the page covers apps that target Android 11 or higher, and we don’t know what 918Kiss targets. It also says that resuming an activity counts as use, and on Android 11 and higher so does interacting with a notification, other than dismissing it.

Rank 4: Notifications Are a Separate Setting

Confidence Score: 3 out of 5.

Why it ranks here: no source we found says that removing a home screen icon changes notifications. What Google does describe is a separate control. Open Settings, then Notifications, then App notifications, pick the app, and turn its notifications off or choose specific categories.

Check it: during the week, look at whether alerts still arrive. The Digital Wellbeing dashboard, covered below, also has a view for Notifications received.

Heads-up: we found nothing on what 918Kiss sends or when. If you want a quieter week, the notification setting is the tool, not the icon.

Rank 5: Your Phone May Still Suggest It

Confidence Score: 3 out of 5.

Why it ranks here: Google’s Pixel help says the favourites row at the bottom of the home screen suggests apps based on recent use, frequent use and routines. You can pin, remove or block suggestions, or turn them off under Home settings, then Suggestions.

Check it: look at the bottom row on day one and day four.

Heads-up: the page says if you turn suggestions off, you won’t get any until you turn the feature on again, and some steps work only on Android 14 and up. Whether your phone suggests 918Kiss depends on your own use, and no source tests it.

Rank 6: Digital Wellbeing Can Show Your Numbers

Confidence Score: 2 out of 5.

Why it ranks here: it can measure the week, but the page limits what it shows. Google says to open Settings and tap Digital Wellbeing and parental controls. The dashboard has three views: Screen time, Times opened, and Notifications received. Tap an app in the list to see its details.

Check it: write the three numbers for 918Kiss each evening. Google says the main dashboard covers today only, so a daily note is the only way to build a week. That reasoning is ours.

Heads-up: some of these features are available only on some phones. The page also describes a screen time widget showing your top three apps each day, on Android 9 and later.

Rank 7: How the Week Feels

Confidence Score: 1 out of 5.

Why it ranks here: no source we found studies what happens when someone removes an icon for a week. We can’t tell you whether you will play less, play the same, or feel anything at all.

Check it: write a line each evening about whether you reached for the app out of habit or on purpose. That is our suggestion, and the answer is yours alone.

Heads-up: one week of your own notes is a small sample. It can show you your own habits, but it can’t prove that the icon made a difference. That is our view, not a source’s.

A Simple Seven-Day Plan

Our suggestion, not a source’s. Day zero: write down your numbers from Digital Wellbeing for a normal day, so you have a baseline. Day one: remove the icon, using Remove rather than Uninstall. Days two to six: do nothing different, and note the three numbers each evening. Day seven: compare.

If you want a firmer boundary, Google’s Digital Wellbeing help describes app timers. Open Settings, tap Digital Wellbeing, tap App timers, tap Set timer, choose how much time you can spend and tap OK. When time runs out, the app closes and its icon dims. Timers reset at midnight.

What the Result Can and Cannot Tell You

If the numbers fall, that suggests the icon was a prompt for you. If they stay the same, it suggests your play is deliberate. Either result tells you something about you, and neither says anything about the app.

Those readings are ours. No source interprets the numbers for you.

What No Source Can Tell You About 918Kiss

We found nothing on how 918Kiss works inside. We found nothing on what it sends in notifications, which Android version it targets, whether it counts as unused under Android’s rules, or how it behaves after its icon is removed. We also found no source on how removing an icon changes how people play. Menus differ by brand and Android version, so your phone’s wording may not match Google’s.

Play Smart During the Week and After

An experiment is not a reason to play more, or less, than your limits. Set a time limit and a spending limit before you start, and keep to them. Get the app only from its official source. If play stops being fun, put the phone down.

Questions About Removing 918Kiss From Your Home Screen

What happens if I remove 918Kiss from my home screen for a week?

Google says Remove takes the app off your home screen only, and the app stays on your device. What happens to your habits, no source says.

Will removing the icon stop 918Kiss notifications?

We found no source saying it does. Notifications are controlled separately under Settings, then Notifications, then App notifications.

Will Android put 918Kiss into hibernation after a week?

Android’s developer documentation says hibernation applies after a user doesn’t interact with an app for “a few months”, and it gives no exact threshold. A week is shorter than that.

How can I see how much I use 918Kiss?

Google says Digital Wellbeing’s dashboard shows Screen time, Times opened and Notifications received, for the current day. Note the numbers each evening to build a week.

Is Remove the same as Uninstall?

No. Google says Remove takes an app off your home screen only, while Uninstall takes it off your device.
